Terms of Service

Welcome to Era. Era is a virtual wardrobe app that helps you catalog the clothes you already own, compose outfits, and get styling ideas from Ovi, our AI stylist. These Terms are the agreement between you and [ERA LEGAL ENTITY] ("Era", "we", "us", or "our"). We've kept them as plain as we can.

By joining our waitlist, creating an account, or using Era, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Era.

1. Who can use Era

You must be old enough to form a binding contract and to use Era under the law where you live — generally at least 13, and 16 in parts of the EU where local law requires it. Era is not intended for children below the applicable age. If you're using Era on behalf of an organization, you confirm you're authorized to accept these Terms for it.

2. Your account

  • You sign in with a magic link sent to your email (Apple and Google sign-in are planned). Keep access to your email secure — anyone who can receive your magic link can access your account.
  • You're responsible for the activity that happens under your account. Let us know promptly at [email protected] if you think someone else has accessed it.
  • Please give us accurate information and keep it up to date.

3. Acceptable use

Era is for cataloging your own wardrobe and getting styling ideas. Please don't:

  • Upload content you don't have the right to upload, or that infringes someone else's rights.
  • Upload unlawful, harmful, or abusive content, or anyone else's private images without their permission.
  • Try to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to Era or its systems.
  • Use Era to build a competing dataset or service, or scrape it, without our written permission.
  • Misuse Ovi or the app to generate unlawful content.

We may suspend or remove access if these Terms are broken, to protect Era and its users, or as the law requires.

4. Your content and the license you give us

You own your content. The photos of your clothing, the outfits and eras you create, your wear logs, and your style profile ("Your Content") remain yours. We don't claim ownership of them.

To run Era for you, we need your permission to handle Your Content. You grant Era a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, reproduce, and display Your Content solely to operate and provide the service to you — for example, to store your images in our storage, extract clothing attributes, build your closet and style profile, and let Ovi generate suggestions for you. This license exists only so the app can work; it does not transfer ownership, and it does not let us use Your Content for unrelated purposes or sell it. When you delete content or your account, this license ends for the deleted content (see Section 9).

You're responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the rights to it.

5. Ovi and AI-generated suggestions

Ovi is an AI stylist that suggests outfits from clothes you already own. A few important points:

  • Suggestions are ideas, not advice. Ovi's output is for inspiration only. It is not professional styling, fashion, medical, financial, or any other professional advice, and it may be imperfect or not to your taste.
  • Shop your closet first. Era is built to help you get more from what you already own. Any purchases are entirely your choice — Era never requires you to buy anything, and buying is optional.
  • You decide. Ovi suggests; you choose what to wear or do. You're responsible for your own decisions.
  • Ovi's AI features may change over time. Today a deterministic (rule-based) stylist powers suggestions; an AI model may power them in the future, as described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Intellectual property

Era — including the app, its design, branding, Ovi, and the software behind it — is owned by [ERA LEGAL ENTITY] and its licensors, and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms don't give you any right to our name, logos, or software except to use the app as intended. We welcome your feedback, and you agree we may use it to improve Era without obligation to you.

7. Third-party links, brands, and shopping

Era may show product links, brand names, or a "Shop" experience. Brand names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used for identification only — their appearance in Era does not mean they endorse Era or that Era endorses them. If you follow a link to a third-party site or store, that third party's terms and privacy practices apply, not ours. We're not responsible for third-party products, prices, availability, or content, and any purchase you make is between you and that third party.

Affiliate links and how we make money. Some links in Era — including in the Shop tab — are affiliate links. That means Era takes part in affiliate programs and may earn a commission when you buy something after following one of our links, at no extra cost to you. Prices, availability, and the terms of any sale are set by the retailer, not by Era, and can change at any time.

Our promise: commissions never influence ranking. This is the important part. Ovi ranks and suggests products only on how well they fit the wardrobe you already own — filling a real gap, completing outfits you can already build, matching your style profile. Whether or where Era earns a commission plays no part in that ranking. We built it this way on purpose: the ranking has no notion of payout in it at all. If that ever changes, we'll say so here first.

In-flow checkout (Era Checkout). Where we've enabled it for a retailer we've verified, Era can place an order for you from within the app — a single checkout that can span more than one store. When Era does this, Era acts as your agent to place the order on your behalf; the retailer is the seller of record, and that retailer's own policies govern the sale — fulfillment, shipping, returns, exchanges, and any warranty are between you and the retailer, not Era. Because each store fulfills its own order, an order that spans several stores arrives as separate shipments with separate receipts. Era may earn a commission on eligible orders, as described above, and — to be clear — that commission still never affects ranking. Payment runs through a tokenized payment flow handled by our checkout partner and the retailer; Era never receives or stores your card details (see our Privacy Policy).

8. Disclaimers — Era is provided "as is"

Era is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that Era will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that Ovi's suggestions will be accurate or suit you. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

9. Ending your use of Era

You can leave anytime. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete account. This immediately and irreversibly removes your live data — every record we hold about you and every image you've stored — and ends the license in Section 4 for that content. Residual copies may remain in our encrypted backups for a short period and are purged automatically within [BACKUP WINDOW — confirm against Neon retention; default 30 days]. Once deleted, your live data can't be recovered.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you break these Terms, if we're required to by law, or if we need to protect Era or its users. If we discontinue Era, we'll give you reasonable notice where we can, so you can export or delete your data.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Section 6, Section 8, Section 10, and Section 12 — survive.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Era and [ERA LEGAL ENTITY] will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of (or inability to use) Era, including your reliance on Ovi's suggestions. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to Era will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us to use Era in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 100.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited by law — for example, for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you, and you may have additional rights.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Era evolves — for example, when Ovi's AI features go live or we add sign-in options. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. If you keep using Era after an update, you accept the revised Terms. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and Era agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in [JURISDICTION] to resolve any dispute, unless mandatory law in your place of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
